Fishing for Sight Words

This is a picture of my latest attempt to teach Henry some sight words.  I know he is just shy of 4.5, but he knows all of his letters and most of his sounds so I thought I would try him on reading some words.  He picked them up very quickly, but then got bored with it all just as quickly!  I guess I shouldn't be surprised that the more physical my attempts to teach him are, the better he does.  We are taking it slow with no big expectations.  Thought I'd include it in the blog so that I remember it when Charlie is ready for learning stuff too!

Birthday #36

It was a very big year this year in many ways: new house, new baby, new car.  I feel like we have been so busy, we haven't really been able to properly celebrate big milestones like birthdays, anniversaries, and the like. Thankfully, Amelia took Jason's birthday very seriously.  She had a gift list in mind and had lots of special touches for him throughout the day.

She not only wrapped his present (uh, we were out of scotch tape...) but she also fastened a rainbow loom band to hold all of his gifts together.

He mentioned once that he would like to teach her chess and they always play checkers together when she tags along for his haircuts.  When she saw this 10 game set that included both checkers AND chess, she could hardly contain herself.  And Jason apparently felt the same way.

We love this guy and we are so lucky that he is ours!

How do you get kids to share? Give them one Steak n Shake shake and two straws.  Done.

Why the Face?

Henry is not happy unless he has at least 35,000 toys in his crib.  The more the merrier with him.  I like these pictures because it looks like he is in pain, possibly from the tow truck sticking him in the back.

In reality, the faces he is making is more likely a result of the bright flash from his mom's phone while he was trying to sleep.

But, I guess we will never know for sure.
