Big Number 6

Well, birthday number six was definitely the biggest (and busiest) one yet!  I decided to barricade the birthday girl in her room after she went to sleep the night before her birthday.

As predicted, she loved it!  She was a little distraught about messing it up though.  Her first exit from her room hardly disturbed a single streamer.

But, that passed!

Since all of her presents were wrapped and waiting, she decided to dive right in before breakfast!  Highlights included the La La Loopsy Doll that she brainwashed begged Henry to get her.

She also got a little doll carrier for Kit and a subscription to the Magic School Bus Science Club.  She will have a science kit mailed to her each month for a year.  Each kit has a different topic with all of the supplies to conduct several experiments about that topic.

Jason took the day off of work, so after breakfast and presents, we dropped Henry off with my mom for awhile and took Amelia on a birthday adventure.  First stop, the American Girl Doll store.

This was Amelia's first trip to the new St. Louis store and it did not disappoint.  Luckily she was pretty content just looking at everything.  But, she did have a $30 gift card from my mom burning a hole in her pocket.  We surprised her by taking her to lunch at the Bistro.

This whole experience was way cute (and way over the top) and the perfect way to spend a birthday for a little girl who loves her doll.  It certainly will be a treat reserved for very special occasions!

Amelia loved that they gave Kit a tiny mug of "hot chocolate".

Amelia got a pretzel bite appetizer.  Right up her alley!

I apologize for the ridiculous number of pictures from lunch.  I just love seeing all of the smiles.  Like when the whole restaurant sang Happy Birthday to her!

I love how they have a little doll holder in the bathroom so that you don't have to set your doll on the ground when you have to use the facilities.  Yep, they've thought of everything.  Surprised you can't buy one of these for your own home.....they certainly sell everything else!

In the end, we made it out with only a small bag that had some "free" birthday goodies for her and Kit, the rest of her mini birthday cake, and Kit's reporter set that she picked out with her gift card.

Looking back, we probably should have stopped the birthday celebration with lunch and the store visit. BUT, she had been asking to get her ears pierced, so we took a trip to Sweet 'n Sassy where I had booked her a little manicure and pedicure.  Both American Girl and Sweet 'n Sassy are stores that I can really only handle visiting once a year or so.  Doing them both in one day was just a little much.

Not that Amelia noticed or cared!  I kind of thought she might chicken out once she was in the ear piercing chair, but nope--full speed ahead!

There weren't any tears per se, but there was a bit of whimpering when they put the holes in her ears.  Soon enough, though, she was ALL smiles and so happy with her new jewels!

The birthday girl was accessorized from head to toe.

I honestly think that you would have been hard pressed to find a spot on her body not adorned by some sort of glitter or jewel by the time we left that place...

Everyone was pretty wiped after the long day of dolls and jewels, so we all went home and napped. I don't really remember who's idea it was to do this all in one day, but post nap we had dozens of family members coming over to celebrate Amelia's birthday some more!

Party time was good.  Amelia hung in there like a pro.  She loves little Olivia and mothering her every chance she gets.

Amelia wasn't the only one celebrating a birthday that evening.  Her great grandpa Sinovich and her share a birthday!  They also shared the candles, wishes, and cake!

Then it was time for even MORE presents.

Thankfully that was the end of the birthday celebrations for the newest 6 year old!  I don't think any of us could have handled more partying.  She is such a fun-loving, spunky, bright, silly little girl.  She continues to amaze me every day growing and learning new things.  She has a great attitude and a fun personality.  In fact, I think she is teaching us about life just as much as we are trying to teach her!

She will tell you her favorite book is Harry Potter and her best friends are Gigi, Kylie, Natalie, Megan, and Ava.  Her favorite subject in school is "centers" and her favorite show is "Fish Hooks".  She loves to stay up late trying to sneak in extra reading time when she thinks we aren't checking.  She still loves to act out books and movies whenever she can talk someone into doing it with her.  Kit travels with her constantly and she has big plans to camp this summer and learn how to ride a bike on two wheels.

She has so much ahead of her and I cannot wait to see it all!
