Since Amelia has been in school full time, Henry and I have been trying to get out and enjoy some activities together. When Amelia was this age, we were out with our playgroup several times a week, if not everyday. Henry is STILL napping two times on some days which makes it really hard to get out. But, we are slowly rediscovering the playgroup about once a month or so.
Back in September, we met the group one morning for some apple picking at a nearby farm. It was the perfect activity for little Henry and I. Amelia may have been borderline bored had she been in attendance. It was the apple picking we are used to, but on a much smaller scale!
I didn't get a whole lot of pictures since I was chasing Henry much of the time. But, I actually managed to get TWO pictures of Henry and I while riding the tractors. Poor kid has hardly any with just mom or just dad. Oh, the life of the second child.

The Next Evel Knievel?
With each passing day, Henry is becoming more and more of a daredevil. On this particular day, he scaled the shelf that separates our family room and kitchen, stood up on top of it, and then dove on to the couch before falling to the floor. And then, he let out a very happy shriek followed by an even longer giggle.

Some Soccer Highlights
Amelia had her first experience with organized sports this fall. She joined the kindergarten soccer team at her school! So, nearly every Tuesday and Saturday for 6 weeks, we headed to the field and watched her team play. It was a lot of fun despite their 1-9 record (the other team forfeited at their last game).
Some highlights from practices and games during the season:
As we did on the first day of school, we arrived ridiculously early for her first game and Amelia couldn't wait for her other teammates to arrive!

Line Leader
Henry is definitely one of those boys that LOVES his cars. From early on, I had concerns about his fixation on wheels and it has only escalated from there. He loves his vehicles so much that I am having a hard time deciding on the theme of his second birthday party: a generic car theme? Firetrucks? Construction vehicles?
One of his favorite thing to do with his many matchbox cars (he has inherited Jason's cars from childhood as well) is to line them up. And in doing so, he has easily learned all of his colors. He can (fairly) clearly say the words "yellow, blue, red, green, white, and black". And although he can't say the color words pink and brown, he can identify them! All thanks to his "vroom vroom" obsession!
In fact, his obsession is so great that when he goes down for a nap (STILL twice a day) or for the night, he requests a "blue vroom, vroom" to sleep with. Or yellow, or green, or red.....

Off to Kindergarten
Well, I have FINALLY made it to the first day of school post....As much as I was hoping the first day of kindergarten never came, it did and it started with a bang. She was up early and we were dressed before the sun came up.
Then, it was time to head outside for some first day of school pictures...
She was a little bit excited! It is hard to believe that she is "school age".
One of her very best friends, Natalie is attending the same school as Amelia. She was disappointed that they were not in the same class, but I'm pretty sure Amelia wouldn't have accomplished anything if they would have been.
We arrived embarrassingly early to school. We were to the classroom before the teacher. I guarantee I couldn't get Amelia to school that early again if I tried. We wasted some time checking out the hallway and the apple tag on the door with her classmates names.
We got a couple drinks....
And then finally made it to her spot in the classroom. (Notice no other children in the room...)
It was a great first day and she has had many more since. In fact, she has been in school for almost 2 months already! Hoping to get caught up on the blog one of these days....

And Speaking of Gross Boys....
I might as well throw a potty picture in there. By complete chance on August 25, Henry grabbed his diaper, said "pot" and headed to the toilet. I set him on the big potty and he pooped!
Not actual picture from potty day.
However, if you ask about our progress since that day, I would have to tell you that there is none. I certainly don't think he is ready (or maybe I'm not ready?), but it was a fun event nonetheless.
