High Five!

Let's pretend that this post is not two weeks late. Poor second child, I can imagine its only going to get worse from here...

Month 5 brought some more rolls, er, I mean roles for Mr. Henry.

Explorer of the house: he easily makes it off of his play mat now in seconds

High Chair eater: guess I should say "eater" in general. This month we went from only oatmeal and rice cereal to trying squash, sweet potatoes, green beans, prunes, bananas, peaches, and carrots. He has liked them ALL!

Better Sleeper: no more bouncer for this guy (we had to put it away since everytime we put him in it the seat became horizontal) or swaddling. He got "ferberized" after returning from our trip to DC. The trip affected his nighttime sleep and mom had had enough! Now he sleeps on his belly in his crib for all naps and nighttime sleeping.

Playmate: Amelia loves that Henry squeals with delight during nearly all of their interactions. He particularly loved the tent his sister built for him over his play mat!

Bib Wearer: The water works have increased significantly and Henry benefits from having a bib on at all times. Despite having all of the signs of teething, there is not a tooth in sight. I will be going to the store this week to restock our generic Tylenol. Sigh.

Eater of Feet: His new favorite toy luckily is readily available! Aside from the constant drooling, Mr. Man constantly has EVERYTHING in his mouth and his feet are no exception!

We've been out and about with Henry lots this month! Lots of trips to the park and various playdates. He took his first flight and first trip to the zoo. He also decided that the pacifier is for him after all. Luckily he is a go-with-the-flow kind of guy and seems to be pretty happy. His mom and dad are too now that he is sleeping in his own room and goes to sleep by himself with no more rocking, bouncing, or shushing. Now, if only we can get him to keep that darn pacifier in his mouth all night....

In addition, Henry's eyes seem to be changing daily from blue to brown. His unofficial 5 month stats are:

Length: 28"
Weight: 20.5 lbs.

Incidentally, Henry is the same weight now that Amelia was at one year. Its hard to believe that his next month update will be 6 months!

5 Months!

School's Out for Summer

To my surprise, Amelia "graduated" from pre-school this year! Her pre-school has mixed age classrooms so ages 3 through 5 are altogether. I knew many of the kids were moving on to kindergarten, but I didn't know that they allow every kid to "graduate" so that no one feels left out. What a surprise it was to see my little girl adorning a cap and gown upon the start of the presentation!! I didn't even bring my camera--oops!

Amelia with one of her teachers--Ms. Higgins

Amelia with her other teacher--Ms. Kirchmer

Amelia's paraeducator--Miss Lorenza

The fam at "graduation".

The graduate that Amelia decorated. She was very particular about it having blonde hair and blue eyes. She even gave it rosy cheeks.

Upon entrance into the room, Amelia could hardly contain her excitement. She was next to her best school bud, Gigi and the two of them spent the ENTIRE time giggling. I'm sure it didn't help that we were seated approximately two feet from her.

The group sang 5 songs and they did a great job. I'm pretty sure next year at her real "graduation" I will need to bring a tissue or twenty.

After the songs, each child got to cross a bridge, receive a diploma, and then tell into a microphone what they would like to be when they grow up. Amelia's answer? A princess! Where did I go wrong--ugh??

So let the summer break begin! Only 6 weeks before she is back to the books!

Going Private

After much debate for the last year (and with the help of one very vivid nightmare), I have decided that it is best for my family to make this blog private. I hope our friends and family will stay on as readers despite the added inconvenience. If you are interested in keeping up with us, please send me your email address and I will add you to the "safe" list.

You can reach me at jodibanocy@gmail.com

I'll be switching over within the week.

Thanks Everyone!

DC 2010

Henry took his first sink bath in DC.

In mid-May, Amelia, Henry, GG, and I headed out to Washington DC (or Virginia, really) to visit my brother and his family. I had a lot of concerns about who would give me more trouble on the flight--my 4 month old or my almost 4 year old.....turns out they were both pretty good!

The ride there was virtually uneventful. Henry took his first flight in stride. Not even a whimper escaped from his lips and he slept all except for about 15 minutes of the journey.

Amelia wasn't much trouble either--just very, very excited (can't you tell?). But, luckily she brought her listening ears on the plane with her and the two hour flight "flew" by.

Once we arrived at my brother's house, the fun started immediately!

The kids got some quality time at the park together and Henry took his first ride on a swing!

The kids became one with nature:

And the recycled tire mulch (which translated promptly to bathtime once we returned home).

Andrew tried to teach Amelia how to pump her legs.

While Henry mostly hung out in the shade with GG.

There was also some strawberry picking on the side of Andrew's house. Despite the slim pickin', the kids were thrilled!

We got to see not one, but TWO of Andrew's T-Ball games. So fun!

Amelia took a great interest in the plentiful dirt located near the bleachers. This, of course, also translated to an immediate bath upon our return home.

Nothing like having a hot dog at the ball game! Our all-American blonde haired, blue eyed girl!

These two couldn't be any cuter. Si or no?

GG turned 59 during our visit, so while Derek took her out to get a birthday present, we decorated the house. She was surprised and the kids did great!

Henry did great on the trip with the exception of one night. I think it had something to do with the early evening 1/2 priced frappuccino I indulged in. Lucky for him there was always about 400 things to watch going on between Amelia, Andrew, and Jacob (and Uncle D for that matter).

He got the chance to snuggle with both Aunt Amy....

and Uncle D.

With the exception of the plane ride home (think traffic+vomit+broken car seat), a good time was had by all!

This is the EXTREMELY short cliff note version because I am so behind in posting. If I get a chance, I will go back and try to fill in more details about our days!

Birthday Girl!

Just four short years ago, this amazing little girl entered my life. I am blessed to be her mom and I cannot wait to see what is in store for her (and me) up ahead.

Little Lady

So, these are Henry's 18 month overalls. But, as you can see, that is NOT Henry.
