Family Reunion, Day 2: The Picnic

The fun started early on Friday!  Since we decided to rent a pavilion at Laurel Park in St. Charles and the temperature was supposed to be pretty toasty, we thought we would get an early start in case it got too uncomfortable.  It turned out to be a great day (as long as you were in the shade) and most people stuck around until 5 or so in the evening.

Evan decided to use his fingers as the chip to get some yummy taco dip!

For the most part, it turned out to be a stereotypical family reunion.  We ate fried chicken and potato salad and watermelon. A frisbee was thrown around.  The midwesterners taught the east and west coast crews how to play washers.  Most of the kids went swimming either in the blow-up pool we brought with us or the public pool located near our pavilion. There was a lot of mischievous water gun fire, some entire buckets poured upon unsuspecting, but deserving victims.  There was even a watermelon seed spitting contest!

Seed spitting contest:  Mark vs. Noah
Look at that form (and those cheeks), Max takes it all!
Amelia enjoyed herself so much playing with all of her second cousins, that she completely skipped a nap on Friday and never even looked back!

Here are some pictures of the family who attended.  This is the original five we have to thank for this whole mess:  my mom and her sisters and brothers:

This attractive crowd likes to refer to themselves as the "outlaws", despite the fact that they are actually the "inlaws".  They even have an "outlaws" president!

Here are all of the cousins and their families that could make it to the reunion:
