Day 2 started with an early morning trip to a place that came highly recommended: Discovery Park. We caught a bus to the park and Amelia enjoyed taunting the pigeons while we waited for its arrival.
The park was beautiful! We enjoyed the views from the cliffs overlooking Puget Sound.
We could see the beaches below from the cliffs and decided we should hike the trail through the woods to get a better look.
The trail started out simply enough. We knew ahead of time it was 3/4 mile, but it started to go downhill, fast. Literally.
Thankfully, it was a beautiful walk. With the views of Puget Sound and the beautiful plants and such. The POISON IVY particularly caught Jason's attention about 10 minutes into the walk. He is highly allergic and immediately brought out his iphone to use the poison ivy application.
We decided to keep going despite the abundant plant we assumed could only be the big PI. When we finally arrived at the "beach", I must say we were a little disappointed. It wasn't quit the white, sandy beach I was expecting. Amelia was not deterred, however, and jumped right in so to speak.
She was a little freaked out by the seaweed...but survived.
We were all completely worn out after heading back up the trail. Straight up. Jason carried Amelia the entire way to cut down on the poison ivy exposure. Despite that, however, Amelia was still pretty wiped on the bus ride home.
After immediate showers and naps at the hotel, we decided to walk the waterfront a bit. Amelia made friends with a huge, furry penguin.

We decided to eat dinner at the Crab Pot where Amelia helped a fisherman reel in a monster crab.

Afterwards, we walked around a bit more. Here you will see the Starbucks that we thought was the original. We were wrong, it was the one about 3 doors down.
We came upon Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory and decided to head inside for some dessert. My wonderful husband picked out something he thought looked good--a Death By Chocolate truffle. Apparently the truffle did not have a price on it in the case, turns out it was $11! That's $23.9/lb!! I must say it was pretty fantastic though!

Amelia ordered herself some of the Princess ice cream she spotted at the shop. As Jason put it, if Belle had a taste, this would be it.
Thankfully we all escaped Day 2 without anyone developing poison ivy! It was a huge relief since I was the one advocating the hike down to the beach!
