Seattle: Day 4

We headed out on day 4 to Pike Place Market bright and early! Well, actually by the picture, it looks like it was neither bright or early, but fun nonetheless. This place was something I had been looking forward to from the start of my Seattle research. Luckily, our hotel was only a couple of blocks from here, making it a very short, easy walk.

We started with another visit to Rachael, the pig. This time, however, realizing it was actually a very large piggy bank for charity, we deposited some cash money.

Next up were the crazy fish sellers. These guys were chanting and slinging fish left and right to anyone wanting to buy something. They were willing to ship anywhere in the USA. This is one of the reasons the market is so famous.

Can you see that huge nasty, Munk fish at the bottom of this picture. He was laying there looking all disgusting with his mouth wide open. Whenever someone would take an interest in him and stare with disgust, a man behind the counter would jerk him up by the tail, usually resulting in a startled scream from the onlooker. You can see the short man behind the counter with the trench coat, sunglasses, and hat--it was his job to scare whomever he could. He also liked to throw a snowball occasionally.

I could not get over these beautiful flower arrangements. This is always the most painful part of going to a Farmer's Market for me--the beautiful, incredibly cheap flowers! However, these markets are never near home, so buying flowers doesn't make much sense. Those huge, lovely bouquets in the front were only $10!

We picked up a mid-morning snack at the market. Our first purchase were some delicious Ranier cherries, followed by some chocolate croissants and french bread at Le Panier. Everything was delicious! Amelia was quite content to sit in her stroller and munch on whatever food we threw her way!

After strolling around the market's three levels, we headed toward the waterfront in search of a ferry ride. We decided to take the water taxi to West Seattle. It's the far boat in the picture.

While on the boat, we got some great shots of downtown Seattle. Too bad it was such an overcast day, we didn't see much of the mountains.

Later that evening, we headed to Cheesecake Factory for dinner. I'm not sure if you can tell by the picture, but Amelia's grilled cheese sandwich was larger than her head. It was insane!
